Crafts
For as long as I can remember I've enjoyed creating things. I don't remember who first taught me to crochet - my mind believes it was my grandmother (Mama) but I know for a fact that this can't be as she passed away when I was just two years old. My mother (Anyuci) is the next logical guess, but no matter how much I search, I simply cannot recall. My memory is failing me. I DO, however, remember starting to crochet again as an adult. Just basic granny squares. And then stopping. Because I found cross stitch more enjoyable. And then life happened.
Over the years I've dabbled with pottery and mosaics, but it is crochet that I keep gravitating back to. It is considerably more transportable than any other craft I've tried; and having learned some pretty damn fancy stitches, it has become my most creative outlet.
I love making things for others. I still have a blanket that Mama made. It has got to be around 50 years old now. It is in need of repairs, and the colours leave something to be desired. But I will forever treasure it. I hope that when I'm long gone, some of the items that I have created will trigger fond memories for those I've left behind.
