Within the walls of Dover Castle, built into the Church of St. Mary, is the oldest standing Roman building in the UK, the Dover Pharos, or lighthouse.
Built in the 2nd Century AD, the Pharos would have guided the Roman fleet and trading ships into the entrance of the harbour.
The lighthouse was built at a specific angle so that it could communicate with its sister at Cap Gris Nez, on the French coast.
Today was the first day of week four. I felt remarkably good most of the day; considering yesterday's exertion followed by waking not once, but three times throughout the night. Despite it being a "weekend" day for me (I often see clients on Saturdays) today turned out to be quite busy beginning with a board meeting, followed by bank recs, invoicing, and making a start on an article I am writing. Before I knew it, it was mid-afternoon and I was out of steam. But eager to clock up some more kms, I decided to do another Pilates class. I lasted 22 minutes this time (one more than previously) so am rather pleased with myself. Having pushed myself to cook dinner when all I wanted to do was collapse on the couch, I'm feeling absolutely shattered now. So guess where I'm heading. . .
