The Grand Mosque is a centre for Paris' large Muslim communities. Opened in 1926, the mosque was designed by Maurice Tranchant de Lunel, a French architect.
He built many Moroccan monuments and that influence can be seen in the mosque's Moorish style, with an imposing rectangular minaret and walls inlaid with geometric design on ceramic Tile work.
Behind the Mosque's carved oak doors can be found a lush courtyard garden, a madrasa, and prayer rooms.
