Today I reached the final tree planting milestone on the Angkor Wat challenge. Hard to believe I passed the 80% mark; well ahead of schedule.
Tomorrow's exercise will consist of grocery shopping. I know that by some people's standards, walking around a supermarket (no matter how large) doesn't constitute exercise. However, it all comes down to definition, perception, and context. For some, only intentional activity is worthy of the exercise label. Whilst others would argue that incidental activity (such as gardening, hanging out the washing, climbing stairs instead of taking the escalator or elevator, vacuuming, and even grocery shopping) counts as exercise due to the physical movement and energy expenditure. As someone trying to manage and overcome chronic fatigue, I can tell you that a big weekly grocery shop can feel just as draining as a half hour intentional walk out in nature. And one of the mistakes I was making up until recently was to not recognise the energy expenditure of all the incidental activities that I was completing. So no wonder I was overdoing my rehabilitation. As such, I make no apologies for recording and celebrating the incidental activities of groceries and housework as "exercise".
