Rome Challenge: Via Appia



Lined by plane trees and broken marble columns, ancient tombs and winding aqueducts, this vital highway once connected the city of Rome to the southern portions of her Empire.


History is thick in the air: here the early Christians buried their bead in vast catacombs, Rome's legions marched to face the Carthaginians in Sicily, and Spartacus' slave rebellion me a gruesome end.
